Operation "Let Them Die" In Full Swing

from Atrios:

...they were told like me. Every single day. The cavalry is coming. On the federal level. The cavalry is coming. The cavalry is coming. The cavalry is omcing. I have just begun to hear the hooves of the calvary. The cavalry is still not here yet, but I have begun to hear the hooves and were almost a week out.

...We had Wal-mart deliver three trucks of water. Trailer trucks of water. Fema turned them back, said we didn't need them. This was a week go.

...We had 1,000 gallons of diesel fuel on a coast guard vessel docked in my parish. The coast guard said come get the fuel right way. When we got there with our trucks, they got a word, FEMA says don't give you the fuel.

...Yesterday, yesterday, fema comes in and cuts all our emergency communications lines. They cut them without notice. Our sheriff, Harry Lee, goes back in. he reconnects the line. He posts armed guards said no one is getting near these lines...

...The guy who runs this building I'm in. Emergency management. He's responsible for everything. His mother was trapped in St. Bernard nursing home and every day she called him and said. Are you coming. Son? Is somebody coming? And he said yeah. Mama. Somebody's coming to get you.. Somebody's coming to get you on Tuesday. Somebody's coming to get you on Wednesday. Somebody's coming to get you on Thursday. Somebody's coming to get you on Friday. And she drowned Friday night. And she drowned Friday night. Nobody's coming to get us. Nobody's coming to get us. The Sectary has promimsed. Evrybody's promised. They've had press conferences. I'm sick of the press conferences. For god's sakes, just shut up and send us somebody.

Forget my last post. The idea that this administration is "all idiot, all the time" is just a ruse. It is a cover for the reality that this administration just doesn't give a damn about Americans who aren't under their GOP tent.

If you're poor, in need, and not their ethnic type, this White House will not come to help you.

I mean, c'mon! If a government in Sudan, or anywhere else in the world neglected to help their own people, tuned away aid, and hindered actual rescue of their people in plight, we'd call it fuckin ethnic cleansing, or something.

What do we call it when it happens here? Mis-communication, incompetence, and underfunding.

I never would have thought such a thing would happen in the USA. But then, why not here? We have major corporations running the country and they are not known for their compassion to the common man.

Are the refugees any better off? There are reports going around about the Fall Creek Baptist church camp in Oklahoma that say the refugees will be confined in the isolated area for five months. If they leave they will not be allowed back in. They can't fix their own food in spite of the fact that just about every cabin has a kitchen. The churches that own the cabins are not allowed to fix meals for the people staying in their cabins because of a fear of riots. Is this right? Is this America? No, it's Bush Country
